Shepard Fairey was born February 15, 1970 in Charleston, South Carolina and is an American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist, illustrator, and founder of OBEY Clothing. Shepard Fairey received his bachelor of fine arts degree (BFA) in illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I. As a student at the school, Fairey created the hugely popular Andre the Giant Has a Posse sticker, which transformed into the OBEY GIANT art campaign.
